STRATIGRAPHY FIELD TRAINING
Informal Field School in Bison Basin, Wyoming
This biannual trip brings undergraduate and graduate student volunteers into the field for 1-2 weeks of field training. The field trip is open to everyone and is cost-free.
Alexis Licht at CEREGE heads up the stratigraphy activities. Training includes sedimentary rock description, measuring section and paleobotany. Chris Beard and his paleontology team from KU bring students for fossil prospecting and identification.
Results of the field work have led to several ongoing undergraduate and graduate research projects on the Paleocene stratigraphy, paleoenvironment and paleoclimate in Wyoming.
